ID Pardalotes
These four pardalotes live in different parts of Australia. This guide helps you identify the Forty-spotted Pardalote, Red-browed Pardalote, Spotted Pardalote and Striated Pardalote by comparing simple visual features.

Forty-spotted Pardalote
Lives only in Tasmania. Look out for its olive-yellow face, yellow under-tail and spots on its wings.
Red-browed Pardalote
Lives in inland and northern Australia. Look for the white spots on its crown, red spot above its bill and gold buff wing streak.
Spotted Pardalote (female)
Lives in eastern and southern Australia. Look for the buff/yellow spots on its crown and yellow under-tail. It doesn’t have a yellow throat (like the male).
Spotted Pardalote (male)
Lives in eastern and southern Australia. Look for the white brow, yellow throat and yellow under-tail.
Striated Pardalote (black-headed)
Lives in northern Australia (including northern NSW). Look for the plain black crown, and the red or yellow spot on its wing.
Striated Pardalote (streaky-crowned)
Lives in southern Australia. Look for the streaky black crown, grey back, and the red or yellow spot on its wing.
